The Westwood High School Full Orchestra has been named the 2026 High School Full Honor Orchestra by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). This prestigious award is one of the highest honors a school music group can receive in the state of Texas, comparable to earning a state championship title.
“This is an incredible recognition of our students’ artistry and commitment,” said Joshua Thompson, Orchestra Director at Westwood. “We’re grateful for the support of our school and community and look forward to representing Westwood at the TMEA Convention.”
Each year, bands and orchestras across the state submit recordings for TMEA consideration in a rigorous, multi-round adjudication process. Out of the many talented groups from Round Rock ISD who entered, three earned finalist placement and statewide recognition.
Awards earned include:
Westwood High School Orchestra, 1st Place (Full Honor Orchestra)-
Directors: Joshua Thomas and Brittany Dacy
Walsh Middle School Band, Finalist (3C Honor Band)-
Director: Jennifer Bergeron
Canyon Vista Middle School Orchestra, Finalist (String Honor Orchestra)-
Directors: Ragan Whatley and Emily Hornbake
“We are extremely proud of the hard work our performing arts programs have exhibited this year,” Jager Loyde, Director of Fine Arts-Music, said. “Being ranked in the TMEA State Honor Ensemble process is a testament to the immense dedication to excellence our directors, lesson teachers, and student musicians share here in Round Rock ISD.”
Westwood’s Full Orchestra will go on to represent Round Rock ISD with a performance at the 2026 TMEA Convention in front of music educators from across the state.
